A calf feeding bucket is a bucket with a teat at the bottom or side, so the calf sucks in a natural posture instead of slurping from an open bucket. You buy separate teats to replace worn ones. Both are in this selection, supplemented by calf bottles and feeders.
Buckets: round or flat
There is a round calf bucket with a hole for the teat and a bucket with two flat sides, in grey plastic or transparent white. A flat side hangs flush against a gate or pen wall. A transparent bucket lets you see at a glance how much milk is left. A mounting plate, lid and separate coupling with ring complete the bucket.
Which teat fits
| Teat | Characteristic |
|---|---|
| Calf bucket teat super 100 mm | In yellow, honey, red and white |
| Red calf bucket teat super 125 mm | Longer teat |
| Yellow floating teat | Floats on the milk; complete or as a separate teat |
| Calf bucket teat 100 mm white EF | Separate replacement teat |
With many manufacturers, the colour of a teat indicates its firmness or the size of the opening. So when reordering, check that you choose the same variant your calves are used to.
Prefer a bottle?
For a single calf or a weak calf, a 1, 2 or 2.5 litre feeding bottle with teat is more practical, because you can control the drinking better. Replace a teat as soon as it shows cracks or the hole gets bigger.
Everything around rearing is in calf rearing. Calf jackets are in calf jackets, and milk warmers in calf milk and feeding buckets.
Frequently asked questions
What is a floating teat?
A teat that floats on the milk and draws milk up through a small tube. That way the calf can also drink from an open bucket without a teat in the wall.
How often do I replace a teat?
As soon as it tears, goes soft or the hole has become bigger. Keep a few spare teats in stock.
Do the separate teats fit every bucket?
Not always. Choose a teat of the same size as your current one, for example 100 or 125 mm, and check the fitting.
