What is a suitable transport box?

Always ensure that the bottom of the transport box is covered with a soft layer such as bedding or bird sand . This helps to absorb droppings and prevents slipping. Optionally, place a perch with a non-slip surface to provide your bird with extra grip and comfort during the journey.

During longer journeys, it's important that your bird receives sufficient water and food. Use compact food and water bowls that can be attached to the carrier. Don't forget to give your bird rest after arrival and possibly supplement its diet, especially in hot weather or stressful situations.

Transport boxes are suitable for almost all bird species, provided they are well-suited to their size and behavior. Suitable models are available for small songbirds, parakeets, cockatiels, and even larger hook-billed birds. Preferably choose a box in which your bird can sit upright without touching the ceiling. Also, take into account the sharp beaks of parrots and choose extra sturdy materials in that case.
