An insecticide, a cleaner or a woodworm treatment only ends up in the right place with the right sprayer. Here you will find pressure sprayers and knapsack sprayers from Mesto and Gloria, hand sprayers such as the Birchmeier Foxy Plus and the Mesto Trigger Sprayer, powder dusters (Birchmeier DR5 and the Poederverstuiver Pro) and a large range of parts: spray lances, telescopic lances up to 7 metres, trigger valves, nozzles, spray shields and seal kits. You will also find separate parts and a battery for the FlowZone Concrete.
Four questions before you choose
- Liquid or powder? You apply an insect powder with a powder duster, not a pressure sprayer. Liquid products go in a pressure, knapsack or hand sprayer.
- How much area? A 600 ml hand sprayer is for spot treatment. For a chicken coop or a few stables, a 5 or 6 litre pressure sprayer (Mesto Flori, Profi Plus, Inox Plus, Gloria 505T Profiline) is handy. You carry the 12-litre Mesto RS125 knapsack sprayer on your back for larger spaces.
- What goes in it? The seal material must be able to withstand the product. Mesto supplies versions with NBR, FPM and EPDM seals; the Fix Plus is made for cleaning vinegar and there is an acid-resistant flat-fan nozzle. The Inox Plus has a stainless steel tank.
- How far do you need to reach? For ridges, beams and cobwebs under the roof, a telescopic lance helps; for targeted treatment close to the ground, a short curved lance or a spray shield.
Nozzle and spray pattern
A flat-fan nozzle gives a fan-shaped, even layer on walls and floors. A hollow-cone nozzle distributes more finely, for example for plants or spaces with many corners. A spray shield keeps the mist together and limits drift towards feeders, drinkers or animals. Always follow the label of the product you are using for droplet size.
Maintenance and working safely
Depressurise a pressure sprayer after use, rinse the tank, hose and lance with clean water and store it frost-free. Worn seals or piston rings are the most common cause of leaks and pressure loss; separate seal kits, pumps and piston rings are available for this. Preferably use a separate sprayer for pesticides and one for cleaners, and label them. When spraying, wear the protection the label prescribes; gloves, overalls and masks are in safety and protection.
What do you spray with it?
Products against ants, cockroaches and red mite are in crawling insects, against flies in flying insects. Treat wood against larvae with the products under woodworm and longhorn beetle. For stable cleaners, see stable cleaning and disinfection. Back to the pest control overview.
Frequently asked questions
Which pressure sprayer do I use for cleaning vinegar?
Choose a sprayer suitable for acids, such as the Mesto Fix Plus for cleaning vinegar with EPDM seals. An ordinary garden sprayer can start leaking sooner because of acid.
Can I put insect powder in a pressure sprayer?
No. You dust powder with a powder duster such as the Birchmeier DR5 or the Poederverstuiver Pro, unless the label states that the product must be dissolved in water.
Why does my pressure sprayer lose pressure?
Usually because of a worn seal, piston ring or trigger valve seal. Replace it with the seal kit for your model.
Do I need a telescopic lance?
Only if you need to reach high or far, such as under a stable or barn roof. For stables and coops, the standard lance is enough.
