Excellent Horse Excellent Horse Electrolytes Powder

    Out of stock

Horse Electrolytes Powder – fast fluid uptake and recovery Horse Electrolytes Powder is a complementary feed (dietetic feed) for horses, specially developed to compensate for electrolyte loss during heavy sweating. It supports rapid uptake and retention of fluid and contributes to restoring the fluid balance during (heavy) exertion or in warm conditions. When sweating, a horse loses not only fluid but also important electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium and calcium, as well as trace elements such as zinc. These substances play an essential role in fluid balance, muscle function and the overall functioning of the body. Horse Electrolytes Powder is a high-quality electrolyte mix that perfectly matches these losses, making it a practical addition to the ration of sport and working horses. Benefits of Horse Electrolytes Powder Supports rapid uptake and retention of fluid Helps restore the fluid balance Contains essential electrolytes, zinc and vitamin B₂ Supports normal muscle function Ideal in warm weather and during heavy exertion Suitable during training, transport and competitions Flexible to use (3 applications) Effective support for horses that lose fluid and electrolytes through exertion or heat. Composition & action Horse Electrolytes Powder contains a balanced combination of: Sodium & chloride – support the fluid balance Potassium – important for muscle activity Magnesium & calcium – contribute to normal muscle and nerve function Zinc – plays a role in various bodily processes Vitamin B₂ – supports energy metabolism A horse's sweat contains relatively high concentrations of electrolytes. If these are not sufficiently replenished, this can lead to a reduced urge to drink and delayed recovery. Supplementing electrolytes helps the body restore its balance faster. Why electrolytes are important When sweating heavily, a horse loses more electrolytes per litre of fluid than are present in blood or other body fluids. If these losses are not replenished: the fluid balance can be disrupted the urge to drink can decrease recovery after exertion can be delayed Electrolytes therefore support efficient rehydration, especially when water alone is not enough. 3-in-1 ease of use Horse Electrolytes Powder can easily be used in three ways: Over the feed (dry) Dissolved in drinking water (dissolves very well) Mixed into a mash Flexible to use, depending on the situation and the horse's preference. Suitable for Sport and competition horses Horses in heavy training or work Horses during warm weather Horses during transport Horses that need extra support with their fluid balance Feeding advice 25 grams per 1 litre of water Use during the period from: 1 day before exertion up to 2 days after exertion Maximum: 100 grams per day Always provide sufficient fresh drinking water. Use Ideal in warm weather or during intensive exertion Suitable for short-term use around periods of exertion Easy to dose and mix Important Good water intake is essential when using electrolytes. Make sure the horse always has access to sufficient fresh drinking water. Contents 1 kg (HORS010021E) 2.5 kg (HORS01002EE)

  • Excellent Electrolyte mix voor kleinvee

Excellent Excellent Electrolyte Mix for poultry and small livestock

    Out of stock

Electrolyte Mix for poultry and small livestock Electrolyte mix for chickens, pigeons and chicks. Complementary feed that dissolves easily in (drinking) water. Provides a balanced mix to replenish important electrolytes, bicarbonate and energy and supports digestion and a good fluid balance. Electrolytes are especially important during periods of high temperatures. Birds such as chickens and pigeons cannot sweat and will try to lose heat by panting, spreading their wings and raising their feathers. In addition, feed intake drops and the animals are less active. A further effect of panting is that the CO 2 level in the blood falls, causing the blood pH to rise. To compensate for this, urine production increases, so the animals lose extra fluid, electrolytes and bicarbonate and are at risk of dehydration. Electrolytes are also important to support recovery after exertion or illness. Due to reduced feed and water intake, these animals also need electrolyte replenishment to stimulate feed and water intake and support digestion. Can be used for Periods of high temperatures Supporting recovery after exertion or illness Supporting digestion A good fluid balance Supporting feed intake, growth and egg quality Feeding adviceAlongside the drinking water: At the first signs of discomfort in high temperatures (panting, spread wings) and to support recovery, dissolve 25 g per litre of water and make freely available. Always provide sufficient drinking water in a separate water source in addition to the electrolyte mix. Directly via the drinking water: Dissolve 2.5 g per litre in the drinking water and give for 1-7 days. Contents250 g

On a hot day, a horse, cow, sheep or chicken mainly needs three things: shade, unlimited fresh water and air that can move. What you will find here helps with that: drinkers, electrolytes, sun cream and cooling gel for horses.

Shade, water and air

  • Shade: check whether there is shade in the field all day, even as the sun moves round. Trees, a field shelter or an open barn with a through draught help.
  • Water: animals drink much more in the heat. Put out an extra trough and refresh it often: they are less keen to drink lukewarm or dirty water. The Drinkbak All Animals with float valve (6 litres) refills itself when connected to the mains water supply.
  • Ventilation: open doors and hatches of stable and chicken coop, so warm air can escape. Chickens cannot sweat; they pant and spread their wings when it is too hot.
  • Adjust work: ride, train or transport animals in the early morning or evening.

What you can use alongside

For horses that sweat a lot there are Excellent Horse Electrolytes as powder, pellets and liquid. For chickens, chicks and pigeons there is the Excellent Electrolyte mix for small livestock, which you mix into the drinking water. For both, follow the label, and always provide plain water alongside water with electrolytes. Protect lightly haired areas, such as a pink nose, with Excellent Horse Sunblock Cream SPF 30. Apply the Excellent Horse Deep Ice Cooling Gel to the legs after work; after hosing down, use a sweat scraper to remove the water from the coat.

Please note

These are practical measures, not a treatment. If you see an animal that keeps panting, staggers, will not drink or becomes dull, call your vet.

More on salt and sweating is in horse electrolytes; you will find drinkers in horse drinkers and chicken drinkers, and extra water containers in buckets and tubs. Against flies in summer: fly masks. Back to yard and pasture.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep my horse cool in a heatwave?
Provide shade and unlimited fresh water, only work in the cool hours and hose the horse down after exertion. Call your vet if it keeps panting or is dull.

Should I give electrolytes in hot weather?
Mainly for animals that sweat a lot, such as horses after work. Follow the label and always provide plain water as well.

How do I help my chickens through the heat?
Provide shade, fresh and cool water in several places and a well-ventilated coop. Mix the electrolyte mix for small livestock into the drinking water according to the label.

Does a horse need sun cream?
Horses with pink skin or a white blaze burn more easily on the nose and around the eyes. That is where you use a sun cream for horses.
