    Linseed oil for horses – for healthy skin, a shiny coat and optimal digestion Linseed oil is a widely used supplement for horses and is given daily by horse owners who want to support their horse from within. Thanks to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, linseed oil contributes to healthy skin, a strong immune system and a beautifully shiny coat. Our linseed oil is 100% cold-pressed, so all natural nutrients are optimally preserved. This ensures a high quality that perfectly matches your horse's daily needs. Benefits of linseed oil for horses Rich in omega-3 fatty acids Supports healthy skin and a shiny coat Contributes to good digestion and gut function Helps with maintaining weight or providing support during weight loss Ideal during the moulting season Supports the immune system 100% cold-pressed GMP+ FSA certified Why choose our linseed oil? This linseed oil is produced according to the GMP+ FSA quality standard, which guarantees safety and reliability in horse feed. So you are choosing a product that meets the highest standards and is suitable for daily use. Why cold-pressed linseed oil matters so much Not all linseed oil is the same. The difference lies mainly in the way the oil is produced. Our linseed oil is cold-pressed, and that makes a big difference in quality and effectiveness. In cold pressing, the oil is extracted without high temperatures. As a result, the valuable omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants are optimally preserved. It is precisely these nutrients that are essential for healthy skin, a shiny coat and a well-functioning immune system in horses. When linseed oil is heated during the production process, these important nutrients can be partly lost. The result is an oil with less nutritional value and therefore less effect. By choosing cold-pressed linseed oil, you choose: The maximum amount of omega-3 fatty acids Preservation of natural nutrients Better support for skin, coat and digestion A pure and unprocessed product of high quality In short: cold-pressed means your horse benefits from all the natural advantages linseed oil has to offer — exactly as nature intended. Hoeven & vacht (supplement)

Crumbly hoof edges and a dull coat often stem from nutrition, and that is where the approach starts. This collection contains complementary feeds for hoof horn and coat: biotin for those who want to support the horn and oils for those after a glossy coat.

Biotin or oil?

For the hooves, biotin is the best-known ingredient. Excellent Horse Biozin contains it and comes in 1 kg and 2.5 kg. Horn grows slowly down from the coronary band, so you only see a change after many months. Keep it up before you judge.

For the coat, oils with omega fatty acids are common. In the range:

  • Linseed Oil, from 500 ml to a 200-litre drum;
  • Salmon Oil in 1, 2.5 and 5 litres;
  • Omega Boost and Combi Oil, oil blends;
  • Hemp flower pellets from the Herbs line, for those who prefer not to pour liquids.

Oil also provides energy. For a horse that puts on weight easily, start with a small amount and keep an eye on its weight.

What nutrition does not solve

A poor hoof often has other causes too: too long between farrier visits, wet or bone-dry ground, or shoeing that does not fit. Discuss it with your farrier. For external care, such as hoof oil or hoof tar, go to hoof care. A dull coat also benefits from daily grooming.

Storage

Oils can go rancid. Close the bottle tightly, keep it somewhere dark and cool, and do not buy a larger pack than you will use within a reasonable time.

Related groups: vitamins and minerals for a complete ration and stomach and gut. Back to all horse supplements.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for biotin to have an effect?
Because a hoof grows out slowly, you only see a difference after months. New horn first becomes visible just below the coronary band.

Which oil is better: linseed oil or salmon oil?
Both provide omega fatty acids, from a plant or an animal source. Choose by taste and what your horse accepts; some horses leave fish oil untouched.

Can I feed oil to an overweight horse?
Oil contains a lot of energy. With an overweight horse, feed it sparingly or choose a product without added energy, and consult a nutrition adviser.
