You will find calf jackets here in two types: the Calf Coat for cold and draughts, in 70 and 80 cm, and a summer jacket from Bodyguard. A jacket helps a young calf stay warm without having to draw extra energy from its milk.
Which jacket for which calf
- Calf Coat 70 cm: for a small or newborn calf.
- Calf Coat 80 cm: for a larger calf or a longer breed.
- Bodyguard calf summer jacket: a lighter jacket for the warmer season.
The fastening of the Calf Coat is available separately. If a buckle or strap breaks, you do not have to buy a new jacket straight away.
Putting it on and taking it off
Put the jacket on a dry calf; dry a wet calf first or let it dry under a lamp. Tighten the straps so you can slide a hand underneath, and check daily that nothing is rubbing. If it gets warm during the day, take the jacket off. Wash it between calves, so you do not carry dirt from one calf to the next.
Good to know
This selection also includes products with 'calf' and 'cover' in the name that are not jackets, such as a lid for a calf bucket. Those belong with the feeding equipment. A jacket does not replace dry straw, enough milk and a draught-free spot.
The complete rearing range is in calf rearing. Buckets and teats are in calf feeding buckets and teats, and the rest of the cattle range in everything for cattle.
Frequently asked questions
From when do I put a jacket on a calf?
Often straight after birth once the calf is dry, especially in cold, draughty conditions or with a weak calf.
Can a calf jacket go in the washing machine?
Check the jacket's label. In any case, clean it before the next calf wears it.
Which size suits my calf?
Choose 70 cm for small and newborn calves and 80 cm for larger ones. If in doubt, measure the calf from chest to tail.
