    Direct Bolus Direct Udder Support 12 x 60 g

    Out of stock

The Direct Udder Support Bolus is a complementary feed for dairy cattle that has been specially developed to keep the herd healthy and resilient. The Direct Udder Support promotes the natural immune defences of the animals and helps maintain good udder health by making use of the special properties of specific plants and herbs. The bolus contains black garlic, ginseng and chicory, all of which have unique properties that boost the animals' immune system and udder health. Black garlic is created when ordinary white garlic undergoes a ripening process during which a number of important conversions take place in the garlic. As a result, black garlic contains more than 2x as many antioxidants as white garlic and is more easily absorbed. In addition, it does not have the unpleasant garlic smell, so it has no effect on the smell of the milk. Ginseng is a unique herb that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 3,000 years. Ginseng boosts the immune system and has an antioxidant effect. It also has a natural calming effect that can support the animal in stressful situations. Chicory is an important source of inulin, a group of dietary fibres that have been shown to have a prebiotic effect. This means that it promotes intestinal function and a healthy gut flora. In addition, inulin strengthens the immune system and calms the gastrointestinal tract, helping cattle feel better more quickly. Feeding advice:It is recommended to give 2 boluses per animal, with the option of repeating this after 5 days in periods of increased requirements, such as at drying off or calving. The boluses are administered orally using a suitable applicator. DIRE010: The pack contains 4 boluses of 60 g each.DIRE011: The pack contains 12 boluses of 60 g each. Good to know: This Direct Udder Support is the successor to the Excellent Black Garlic Bolus (KNOF707). 5+1 Bolus September bolus

  • Excellent Cattle Bullet 20 st

Excellent Excellent Cattle Bullet 20 pcs

    Out of stock

Cattle Bullet, also known as the dry cow bolus, is a specially developed complementary feed (dietetic mineral feed) for grass-fed cattle. The bolus is intended for use during the period around calving and offers an effective duration of 4 months. The feeding advice is 2 undamaged boluses per animal (from 150 kg body weight). The bolus contains a combination of essential trace elements and vitamins, including zinc, manganese, copper, iodine, cobalt, selenium, and vitamins A, D3 and E.There are many reasons why more and more farmers are choosing a mineral bolus. One of the most important advantages is the continuous controlled release of minerals, which maintains a constant mineral balance. This is especially important because cows eat less and less as calving approaches (dry matter intake declines). With Cattle Bullet you can be sure that the right vitamins and trace elements are released daily over a period of 4 months for the cow. Other advantages are easy administration, better absorption of minerals, less mess in the barn and the fact that boluses do not depend on the cow’s taste. In short, a mineral bolus offers many benefits for maintaining the health of cows and is an effective way to optimally support the health of the herd. Feeding advice: 2 undamaged boluses per animal (from 150 kg body weight).Effective duration after administration is 4 months. The bolus can be administered using the coloured rings in the bolus gun (27 mm). A healthy udder starts again at every milking: clean teats, a good dip after milking and quickly spotting when a quarter is off. This page brings together the products for udder care in dairy cows, from ointment and mint gel to milking gloves and a rapid test.

Before, during and after milking

  • Preparation: udder paper or cotton udder cloths, and a Gilmour udder sprayer to rinse teats.
  • Checking: Masti-Test liquid with a black test paddle to spot abnormal milk per quarter.
  • Finishing: teat dip such as KenoLac from CID Lines or Maxi Dip Blue, applied with a Maxi Dip Cup.
  • Protection: milking gloves in sizes S to XXL, a milking apron and a waterproof milking sleeve.

Udder ointment, mint gel or lotion?

A conditioning ointment such as Udder Balm or Farm Cream keeps the skin of the udder and teats supple. Mint gels such as Gold Mint, Ice Mint and Maxi Mint+ have a cooling effect and are massaged into a firm udder; they come in sizes from 500 ml tubes to 2.5-litre hanging tubes. The Pro versions are more concentrated. For one cow a small tube is enough; for a milking parlour, the hanging tube with dosing pump is handier.

Drying off and teat problems

When drying off, you use teat cannulas, alcohol swabs to clean the teat end and possibly a teat sealant (Maxi Dry Cow Teat Seal). For damaged teats there are wax and wool teat dilators. Anti-sucking rings (SuckStop) and anti-sucking nose rings keep calves or cows off each other's udders. Express udder flamers remove hair from the udder for a cleaner milking; they are together with dip cups in udder flamers and dip cups.

A rapid test does not replace testing milk samples. With a hard, warm udder or clots in the milk, consult your vet about treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Gold Mint or Gold Mint Pro: which do I choose?
Both are Excellent mint gels; according to the manufacturer, the Pro version is stronger. Read the label for use and milk withdrawal periods.

What size milking glove do I need?
Sizes run from S (6-7) to XXL. The number is your glove size; measure the circumference of your hand or compare with your usual work gloves.

When do I use a teat cannula?
A teat cannula keeps the teat canal open, for example with a damaged teat. Discuss its use with your vet, because with a cannula you insert something into the teat.
