  • Direct Calcium 12 x 94 g

    Direct Bolus Direct Calcium 12 x 94 g

    Out of stock

Direct Calcium BolusDietetic feed for dairy cows in bolus form to supplement calcium in the period around calving, to reduce the risk of milk fever and subclinical hypocalcaemia.Contains a combination of 2 readily available forms of calcium, calcium formate and calcium acetate, and provides 25 grams of available calcium per bolus. Why a calcium bolusShortly before or after calving, a dairy cow can develop a shortage of calcium reserves in the blood, because the calcium requirement rises sharply around calving. If the cow cannot replenish these reserves quickly enough, the blood calcium level can drop too low, resulting in visible milk fever symptoms such as reduced appetite and activity, cold ears and poorly functioning skeletal and organ muscles. In a larger group (40-50%), however, no symptoms are immediately visible, but the low calcium level can still have consequences later in lactation. The Direct Calcium Bolus is an easy-to-administer gelatine capsule that dissolves quickly in the rumen, so that its contents of calcium formate and calcium acetate are also released quickly. Thanks to the good availability of both forms of calcium, the calcium quickly becomes available to the cow. This ensures a gradual rise in the calcium level, which is maintained over a longer period. The perfect choice for every dairy farmer to supplement calcium in dairy cows, for an optimal start to lactation!Feeding advice1 bolus 12-24 hours before calving.1 bolus immediately after calving.1 bolus 10-12 hours after calving.1 bolus 24 hours after calving.Supportive after milk fever therapy1 bolus 2 hours after an intravenous calcium treatment.1 bolus 12 hours after an intravenous calcium treatment.Administer orally using a suitable applicator. The bolus can be administered using the white rings in the bolus applicator (36 mm). Good to know: This Direct Calcium Bolus is the successor to the Excellent Calcium Bolus Gold (CALC05018 and CALC05019).

Excellent Excellent Cattle Bullet 20 pcs

    Out of stock

Cattle Bullet, also known as the dry cow bolus, is a specially developed complementary feed (dietetic mineral feed) for grass-fed cattle. The bolus is intended for use during the period around calving and offers an effective duration of 4 months. The feeding advice is 2 undamaged boluses per animal (from 150 kg body weight). The bolus contains a combination of essential trace elements and vitamins, including zinc, manganese, copper, iodine, cobalt, selenium, and vitamins A, D3 and E.There are many reasons why more and more farmers are choosing a mineral bolus. One of the most important advantages is the continuous controlled release of minerals, which maintains a constant mineral balance. This is especially important because cows eat less and less as calving approaches (dry matter intake declines). With Cattle Bullet you can be sure that the right vitamins and trace elements are released daily over a period of 4 months for the cow. Other advantages are easy administration, better absorption of minerals, less mess in the barn and the fact that boluses do not depend on the cow’s taste. In short, a mineral bolus offers many benefits for maintaining the health of cows and is an effective way to optimally support the health of the herd. Feeding advice: 2 undamaged boluses per animal (from 150 kg body weight).Effective duration after administration is 4 months. The bolus can be administered using the coloured rings in the bolus gun (27 mm). General information about the mineral bolus:* What is a mineral bolus?* Benefits of the mineral bolus.* The mineral bolus scientifically researched.* Comparison of mineral boluses.* Why give a mineral bolus instead of powders.* Small changes in nutrition, big consequences for the fertility of dairy cows.* Mineral bolus in combination with the Repidose Bolus. privateMineral bolus bolus minerals calving milk fever

  • Excellent All-Mineral Plus 20 st

Excellent Excellent All-Mineral Plus 20 pcs

    Out of stock

The All-Mineral Plus bolus is a revolutionary mineral formula for cattle that can be used for both young stock and adult cattle. With an effective duration of 6 months, this bolus is an efficient and cost-effective way to support the growth, fertility and health of your livestock. Our bolus contains a unique combination of vitamins and minerals specifically tailored to the needs of cattle. Field research has shown that the All-Mineral Plus bolus leads to: Optimal growth; Ideal mineral supply; Improved fertility; Higher calving weight. The recommended feeding advice is 2 All-Mineral Plus boluses per animal weighing 150 kg or more. The bolus slowly starts to dissolve at the flat end, and the coating around the bolus ensures it dissolves gradually over a period of 180 days (6 months). Administering 2 boluses is necessary to meet today's requirements for trace elements and vitamins. In addition, the two boluses knock against each other, keeping the release constant. It is recommended to give young stock 2 All-Mineral Plus boluses when turning out to pasture and 2 boluses when housing. Field research shows that the All-Mineral Plus bolus reduces the calving age of heifers by 40 days. The bolus also reduces the number of inseminations per probable conception by 75%. The All-Mineral Plus bolus also leads to an average growth of 134 kg, compared with 121 kg in animals without a bolus. That is a difference of 13 kg or 10%. If you are looking for an effective way to support the growth, fertility and health of your cattle, the All-Mineral Plus bolus is the perfect choice. The bolus is a cost-effective solution that pays for itself. So, is your young stock going into the barn or out to pasture? The All-Mineral Plus bolus belongs with it! Why more and more farmers are choosing a mineral bolus:Giving cows a mineral bolus is an effective way to support the health of your herd. Unlike powdered minerals, a bolus is administered directly into the cow's stomach using a suitable bolus applicator, so the minerals are released continuously for 6 months. This helps maintain a constant mineral balance and prevent any deficiencies. One of the advantages of using a bolus is the easy administration. Instead of giving powdered minerals by mouth, a bolus only needs to be given once. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors. Another advantage of a bolus is better mineral absorption. Because the bolus is administered directly into the stomach, mineral absorption can be improved compared with giving powdered minerals by mouth. In addition, using a bolus leads to less mess in the barn, as no minerals are lost through feed refusals or the cow's behaviour. One of the most important advantages of boluses is that they do not depend on the cow's taste. This means that ingredients that are less palatable but necessary for maintaining the cow's health, such as certain minerals or vitamins, can be included in the bolus without the cow being aware of it and without depending on whether the cow wants to eat it. In summary: a mineral bolus offers many benefits for supporting herd health, such as continuous release of minerals, easy administration, better absorption, less mess in the barn and no restrictions in the choice of ingredients, because palatability is not relevant! Packaging ALLM0002 - Box of 20 All-Mineral Plus boluses (= enough for 10 cows)The bolus can be administered using the coloured rings in the bolus applicator (27 mm).

For sheep there are separate, smaller boluses, such as the Excellent Sheep Calcium Bolus Gold, with their own applicator; for cows you will find minerals as a long-acting bolus or as a mineral lick. This selection brings together all products with bolus or minerals in the name, so you quickly see what there is per species.

For cows: bolus or mineral lick

A mineral lick, such as Liksteen Mineral Rund or the Toplik lick block, hangs or lies in the barn or field and the cow helps herself. As a result, you do not know exactly how much each animal takes in. A bolus is given per animal, so you know for sure that every cow gets her share. There are boluses that release trace elements slowly, such as All-Mineral Plus and Cattle Bullet, and boluses for the days around calving, such as the Dairy Calcium Bolus with magnesium and vitamin D3.

For sheep and calves

Sheep and calves have a smaller oesophagus than an adult cow. So only use boluses intended for them and a suitable applicator, such as the plastic inserter for Uno Grow Calf and Sheep Bullet or the pill giver for lambs. For calves there is also Excellent Calfperien in small 7 gram boluses.

Before you choose

Minerals and boluses are complementary feeds. Sheep are more sensitive to copper than cattle, so never give a sheep a bolus intended for cattle. If you suspect deficiencies, have blood or feed tested and consult your vet or feed adviser.

The full range, including applicators by diameter, is in boluses and minerals for cattle. If you keep sheep, also see everything for your sheep; cattle keepers will find the rest in the cattle section.

Frequently asked questions

Can I give a cattle bolus to a sheep?
No. A cattle bolus is too large and may contain too much copper for a sheep. Only use boluses intended for sheep.

Is a mineral lick enough for my cows?
With a varied ration, often yes, as a supplement. If a deficiency has been demonstrated, a bolus gives more certainty that every animal gets enough.

How do I give a bolus?
With an applicator that matches the diameter of the bolus. Hold the head straight forward and slide the applicator calmly to behind the tongue.
