Stiff joints and starting lameness
Ingredient properties: Glucosamine (as glucosamine sulfate 2 KCl) is the easily absorbable form of glucosamine and is beneficial for building cartilage in joints. It contributes to smooth movement.
Chondroitin sulfate: Chondroitin sulfates are building blocks for cartilage production. They are beneficial for the synovial fluid (joint fluid) and thus ensure proper lubrication of the joints.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an essential nutrient for joint tissue and is therefore important for joint function.
Calcium citrate is important for bone formation, it regulates the acid/base balance in the blood and ensures strong bones.
Magnesium citrate is important for bone strength and has a relaxing effect.
Selenium (as L-methionine) is an important antioxidant and has cell-protective properties.
Iron (as fumarate) is beneficial for many metabolic processes. Iron is good for connective tissue, promoting rapid recovery.
Zinc (as L-methionine) is good for cartilage synthesis. Horses should not be given this product in combination with too much muesli, as the presence of phytic acid in muesli reduces zinc absorption.
Manganese (as sulfate) is a component of various enzymes, particularly glycosyltransferases. These are important for the production of glycosaminoglycans in cartilage. If there is too much phosphorus in the diet, manganese absorption is disrupted.
Copper (as an amino acid chelate) is an essential component of various enzymes, including those important in connective tissue and bone formation. Copper also has cytoprotective properties, as it is a key building block of the antioxidant enzyme SOD, which protects tissue.
Boswelia serrata (frankincense tree) promotes smooth movement.
Harpagophytum procumbens (devil's claw) aids recovery. Keeps joints supple.
Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) for maintaining healthy cells and tissues.
Dosage and application:
Unless the doctor or therapist prescribes otherwise.
The optimal dosage twice a day:
Horse 1 scoop
Pony 2/3 scoop
1 scoop contains approximately 9 grams.
When your horse or pony is walking smoothly again, you can reduce the dosage to once a day.
If administering this product multiple times a day is difficult in practice, once a day or once every two days is sufficient. In that case, administer the maximum daily dose. This product is still effective, but the response may take a little longer.
It can be administered with food. Moisten the powder so it doesn't blow out of the feeder.
Advice for use: Pay close attention to your animal's reaction. Provide it with the necessary rest, but also ensure it gets plenty of exercise. If movement is painful, it's wise to take your animal for short walks regularly. Straight movements, in particular, are good for keeping joints supple and strengthening ligaments and tendons. Abrupt stops and turns, such as when playing with other animals, should be avoided. This places excessive strain on the muscles, tendons, and joints.
Duration of treatment: The effect is usually visible after 1 to 3 weeks. If there is improvement, a maintenance dose can be used. This is usually half the dosage indicated on the packaging. When dosing this product, carefully monitor the animal's reaction. A higher dosage may be necessary initially; this product can be safely administered at double the recommended dose. Gradually reduce the dosage to the lowest possible dose. This product can be used continuously for chronic conditions. It is advisable to include a week off every 6 to 8 weeks. This allows the stimulus to be offered again after the week off. Resume treatment immediately if symptoms warrant it.
Storage: Avoid direct sunlight and store this product in a dry place at a temperature between 5-20°C. Keep out of reach of children. The expiration date is stated on the label and box.
Synergy and combinations with other products: PUUR Glucosamine Complete can be combined with regular medication such as painkillers without any problems. If the animal is already taking regular painkillers, combine both products initially and gradually reduce the chemical painkillers if possible. Monitor the animal's response carefully. Consider using PUUR Plus for additional support, and PUUR Veg Omega contributes to smooth movement. Phytonics Omni milk can be used externally to apply to the joint for relaxation and relief.
Interactions with conventional or natural medicines are possible. Ginger extracts can affect the absorption of other substances and blood clotting.
Contraindications Use during pregnancy only in consultation with the veterinarian.
Side effects: With some homeopathic and herbal products, a short-term worsening of symptoms may occur at the start of treatment. This means the animal is reacting to the product. If symptoms worsen significantly, halve the dosage or discontinue use temporarily, then gradually increase the dosage. To date, no side effects of this product have been reported.
