What requirements must a search line meet?
A good tracking line must meet a number of important criteria to offer both you and your dog optimal comfort and safety during tracking. When choosing a tracking line, pay attention to the following points:

Leash length: For searching on unpaved surfaces, a 10-meter leash is ideal. For searching on paved surfaces, a 6-meter leash is usually recommended, especially for beginners. Experienced handlers often also use a 10-meter leash.

No loop at the end: A search line without a loop prevents the line from getting stuck during use.

Sufficient grip: Choose a line made of a material that provides good grip and doesn't cut into your hands. Lines made of 100% nylon are therefore less suitable.

Sturdy carabiner hook: The carabiner hook must be sturdy and not open on its own, even with intensive use.
