Excellent Excellent Electrolyte Mix for poultry and small livestock

Electrolyte Mix for poultry and small livestock Electrolyte mix for chickens, pigeons and chicks. Complementary feed that dissolves easily in (drinking) water. Provides a balanced mix to replenish important electrolytes, bicarbonate and energy and supports digestion and a good fluid balance. Electrolytes are especially important during periods of high temperatures. Birds such as chickens and pigeons cannot sweat and will try to lose heat by panting, spreading their wings and raising their feathers. In addition, feed intake drops and the animals are less active. A further effect of panting is that the CO 2 level in the blood falls, causing the blood pH to rise. To compensate for this, urine production increases, so the animals lose extra fluid, electrolytes and bicarbonate and are at risk of dehydration. Electrolytes are also important to support recovery after exertion or illness. Due to reduced feed and water intake, these animals also need electrolyte replenishment to stimulate feed and water intake and support digestion. Can be used for Periods of high temperatures Supporting recovery after exertion or illness Supporting digestion A good fluid balance Supporting feed intake, growth and egg quality Feeding adviceAlongside the drinking water: At the first signs of discomfort in high temperatures (panting, spread wings) and to support recovery, dissolve 25 g per litre of water and make freely available. Always provide sufficient drinking water in a separate water source in addition to the electrolyte mix. Directly via the drinking water: Dissolve 2.5 g per litre in the drinking water and give for 1-7 days. Contents250 g

Chickens that know mealworms will follow you all around the garden. That is exactly why treats are so useful: to tame a new flock, to get the birds into the run in the evening or to take a good look at a chicken. Here you will find Utopia mealworms for chickens and garden birds and feeding toys such as the Kerbl treat ball and the Hentastic Fun Feeder.

Treats as a tool

A treat works best when you link it to a fixed moment or sound. For example, always rattle the same tub before handing out mealworms; after a few days the flock will come to that sound. That way you bring them back to the coop without chasing. It also helps when introducing new chickens: scatter the treats over a larger area, so the dominant hens do not claim everything.

During the moult, when chickens replace their feathers, they especially appreciate protein-rich titbits. That is also the time not to overdo it: layers feed remains the main source of nutrients.

Scattered or in a toy?

  • By hand or scattered: quick and good for taming, but gone in a few seconds.
  • In a treat ball: the chickens roll and peck until something falls out. That takes longer and keeps them busy.
  • In a hanging feeder: you hang a Fun Feeder at pecking height, so the birds have to reach and the treat does not end up in the mud.

If you want to counter boredom in chickens kept indoors for long periods, you will find more ideas in peck blocks and chicken toys.

How much is enough?

Think of treats as sweets. A small handful for the whole flock is enough, and preferably at the end of the day rather than in the morning. If chickens get too many extras, they eat less of their balanced feed and laying and shell quality can decline. If you give grain and mealworms more often, also put out grit. Store dried treats tightly closed and dry.

All types of feed, from basic feed to reward, are in the chicken feed and treats collection.

Frequently asked questions

Are mealworms healthy for chickens?
As a treat, yes; they are rich in protein. Give them in moderation, so your chickens keep eating their layers feed.

How do I tame my chickens with treats?
Hand out a little at fixed times, first on the ground and later from your hand. Link it to a fixed sound, and they will come to you by themselves.

Can garden birds eat the same mealworms?
Utopia mealworms are intended for chickens and garden birds. Follow the directions on the pack.
