Calving rope: nylon or Multilon

When to add a calf puller
| Version | Suitable if |
|---|---|
| Vink Veeverlosser 180 cm | your calving pen has limited space behind the cow |
| Vink Veeverlosser 200 cm | you have more room and want a longer stroke |
| Leg-by-leg 180 cm | you want to pull one leg at a time, alternating |
Use a calf puller calmly and only in rhythm with the cow's contractions. If the calf is badly presented or the birth does not progress, leave it to the vet.
Calving drink for the fresh cow
Excellent Afkalf Drank comes in a 500 g tub and as Afkalf Drank +. You dissolve it in lukewarm water and offer it to the cow shortly after calving; many cows drink it eagerly. If a cow will not drink by herself, you can give it with a cow drencher. Calving drink is a complementary feed, not a treatment for milk fever.
Lubricant, shoulder-length gloves and ketosis test strips are in the full calving range. For giving drinks, go to cow drenchers and drench guns; for the newborn calf, see calf rearing, and for everything else, the cattle section.
