Bird transport boxes
Whether you need to go to the vet, are going on holiday, or want to transport a new bird safely: a good transport box is indispensable. Birds are sensitive to stress and vulnerable during transport, so a safe, sturdy and comfortable box is essential. At Fidello you will find transport boxes for parakeets, parrots, canaries and other bird species, in various sizes and materials.
What is a suitable transport box?
A suitable transport box for birds is well-ventilated, easy to clean, and ensures your bird feels safe. Some birds prefer more shelter, while others like to look outside. When choosing a box, consider the size of your bird and the length of the journey. Compact, closed boxes are suitable for smaller species such as budgies or canaries. For larger birds such as cockatiels, lovebirds or parrots, a more robust and spacious model is preferable.
Please note: Do not use a transport box as a permanent residence. Bird cages and aviaries are better suited for daily comfort.
Attention to safety and hygiene
Always ensure that the bottom of the transport box is covered with a soft layer such as bedding or bird sand . This helps to absorb droppings and prevents slipping. Optionally, place a perch with a non-slip surface to provide your bird with extra grip and comfort during the journey.
During longer journeys, it's important that your bird receives sufficient water and food. Use compact food and water bowls that can be attached to the carrier. Don't forget to give your bird rest after arrival and possibly supplement its diet, especially in hot weather or stressful situations.
Which birds are suitable for transport boxes?
Transport boxes are suitable for almost all bird species, provided they are well-suited to their size and behavior. Suitable models are available for small songbirds, parakeets, cockatiels, and even larger hook-billed birds. Preferably choose a box in which your bird can sit upright without touching the ceiling. Also, take into account the sharp beaks of parrots and choose extra sturdy materials in that case.
Do you have a bird that is very attached to toys? In some larger boxes you can even add a small hanging toy or a soft sleeping hut for extra comfort.
