Command Turn or Round
Difficulty level: ★★
"Spinning" is a simple and fun trick where your dog circles around itself, as if doing a pirouette. This trick is easy to teach and great for improving your dog's focus and body coordination.
How to Teach Your Dog to "Spin"
- Use a reward: Hold a treat close to your dog's nose to get his attention.
- Make a circular motion: Move the treat in a circle around his head, so that he follows the motion.
- Give the command: Say "Turn" or "Around" as you guide the treat and have your dog turn around.
- Reward immediately: Use a marker signal such as "Yes" or "Good boy" and give him the treat as soon as he completes the turn.
- Refine the movement: Once your dog understands the trick, you can try gradually reducing the reward and using only a hand signal.
- Reward only on command: Make sure you only reward your dog when he turns after you give the command.
Tips for success
- Start slowly: Get your dog used to the exercise and gradually increase the pace.
- Switch directions: Once he's comfortable, you can teach him to turn both left and right.
- Make it playful: Keep training light and fun to keep your dog motivated.
