Excellent Uno Grow Calf + copper boluses Excellent Uno Grow Calf + Copper is a complementary feed (mineral dietetic feed) in bolus form for grass-fed calves. This bolus contributes to an optimal start for the calf. Effect Uno Grow Calf + Copper provides a long-lasting release of (essential) trace elements and vitamins to grass-fed calves, for optimal calf development. The bolus contains copper, zinc, manganese, iodine, vitamin A, vitamin D3 and vitamin E, among others. Copper contributes to the maintenance of strong blood vessels and to the maintenance of cartilage. Copper also supports energy metabolism and iron transport in the body and has an antioxidant effect. For a variant without copper, we recommend the Excellent Uno Grow Calf (UNO004K). Feeding advice 2 boluses per calf (with a functional rumen) from 3 months of age. Easy to administer orally with a suitable applicator, such as the INSE028 or the INSE035. Duration of action after administration is 6 months. Note It is recommended to seek the advice of a veterinarian or nutritionist before use regarding:a) the balance of trace elements in the daily rationb) the trace element status of the herd Where applicable, the simultaneous administration from other sources of additives for which a maximum content has been set together with those of a bolus should be avoided.

  • Excellent Uno Grow 20 x 112 g

    Excellent Excellent Uno Grow 20 x 112 g

    Out of stock

UNO Grow is a mineral bolus for young stock with a duration of action of 6 months. It is a mineral feed (dietetic feed) designed to improve the growth, development and fertility of young stock. It also lowers costs, so it pays for itself. UNO Grow has been researched and proven in practice, demonstrating its effectiveness. The absorbability and solubility of minerals from the ration is often unstable for growing animals such as young stock. This can lead to an increased need for vitamins and minerals. UNO Grow offers a guaranteed regular release of these important nutrients, which is perfectly absorbed by the young animal's body. The benefits of UNO Grow are: Optimisation of growth, development and fertility of young stock Contains 6 important minerals and 4 essential vitamins Guaranteed controlled release per day 6 months of effectiveness Labour-saving Researched and proven Nothing remains behind in the animal Field research shows that the use of UNO Grow boluses can lead to an improvement in fertility in terms of the age at first calving of heifers. Heifers that received UNO Grow boluses had an age at first calving of 722 days, while heifers without boluses had an age at first calving of 762 days. This is a difference of 40 days. In addition, field research has also shown that the use of UNO Grow boluses can lead to a reduction in the number of inseminations per probable conception. Heifers that received the boluses had a ratio of 1.00 insemination per probable conception, while heifers without boluses had a ratio of 1.75. This is a difference of 0.75 or 75%. Finally, an improvement in the average growth of the young stock was also found. Heifers that received the UNO Grow boluses had an average growth of 134 kg, while heifers without boluses had an average growth of 121 kg. This is a difference of 13 kg or 10%. The recommended feeding advice is 2 UNO Grow boluses per animal weighing 150 kg or more. The bolus starts to dissolve slowly on the flat side, and the coating around the bolus ensures that it dissolves gradually over a period of 180 days (6 months). Administering 2 boluses is necessary so that the young stock meets today's requirements for trace elements and vitamins. In addition, the two boluses knock against each other, keeping the release constant. Why more and more farmers are choosing a mineral bolus:Giving a mineral bolus to young stock is an effective way to support the health of your herd. Unlike powdered minerals, a bolus is administered directly into the animal's stomach using a suitable bolus gun, so that the minerals are released continuously for 6 months. This helps to maintain a constant mineral balance and prevent any deficiencies. One of the benefits of using a bolus is the easy administration. Instead of giving powdered minerals by mouth, a bolus only needs to be given once. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors. Another benefit of a bolus is better mineral absorption. Because the bolus is administered directly into the stomach, the absorption of minerals can be improved compared to giving powdered minerals by mouth. In addition, using a bolus leads to less mess in the barn. There is no loss of minerals through feed refusals or the animal's behaviour. One of the most important benefits of boluses is that they do not depend on the animal's taste. This means that ingredients that are less palatable but necessary for maintaining the animal's health, such as certain minerals or vitamins, can be incorporated into the bolus without the animal being aware of it and without depending on whether the cow wants to eat it. In summary: a mineral bolus offers many benefits for supporting herd health, such as a continuous release of minerals, easy administration, better absorption, less mess in the barn, and no restrictions on the choice of ingredients because palatability is irrelevant! The bolus can be administered using the coloured rings in the bolus gun (27 mm).

A few goats behind the house, a flock of sheep in the field, a dairy barn or two free-range pigs: if you keep ruminants or pigs, you need different tools from a dog or cat owner. This page is the starting point for all farm animals at Fidello. You will not find a loose pile of products here, but four entry points by species, so you quickly get to the teats, hoof knives, marker sticks or barn supplies that belong with your animals.

Four species, four entry points

  • Everything for your goats: rearing goat kids, hoof care, minerals and licks, and supplies for the barn and feeding area.
  • Everything for your sheep: the whole sheep year, from tupping and lambing to shearing, foot trimming and dosing.
  • Cattle: calf rearing, calving, udder and hoof care, boluses and drenching equipment for dairy and beef cattle.
  • Pigs: a small, clear selection with enrichment material, barn tools and needles.

Goats and sheep share a lot of equipment: a lamb teat, a foot-trimming knife or a drench syringe works for both. Still, each has its own section, because their care differs on important points, for example copper in minerals and the way you house them.

Before the animals arrive: registration and a place

In the Netherlands, sheep, goats, cattle and pigs fall under the rules for identification and registration: the location where the animals are kept needs a UBN (holding number), even if you keep only one or two as a hobby. Most other countries have comparable rules for holding registration, ear tags (for sheep and goats often including an electronic tag) and reporting births and movements; separate rules usually apply to pigs. Check what applies in your country and sort this out before you buy animals; the seller will usually ask about it.

Also think about a dry, draught-free shelter, sturdy fencing and a place to restrain animals calmly when you want to check hooves or give something. If you arrange that in advance, you do not have to think about it the moment an animal goes lame or a ewe starts lambing.

What do you choose on? A quick guide

First choose your species, then the time of year. In spring, sheep and goats are all about lambs and kids: bottles, teats, colostrum and warmth. In summer, fleece and flies need attention. In autumn, the ram goes in with the ewes and you get out marker sticks and a raddle harness. Hoof care and minerals continue all year round. With tools, look at the number of animals you have: for three sheep, a hand syringe or simple foot-trimming knife is enough; for a flock of dozens, an automatic drench gun or a large footbath pays off.

What you will not find here

We do not sell wormers or other veterinary medicines. Those go through your vet, who is also best placed to judge whether and when treatment is needed. At Fidello you will find the equipment around them: dosing syringes, gloves, applicators, pill givers and care products. If you have doubts about an animal's health, consult your vet first.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register two goats in the garden?
In most countries, yes. Even if you keep one or a few goats, sheep or pigs as a hobby, the holding and animals usually have to be registered. Check the rules in your country and sort this out before the animals arrive.

Can I use sheep supplies for goats too?
For much of the equipment, yes, such as teats, foot-trimming knives and drench syringes. With minerals and licks you need to be careful, because copper requirements differ between sheep, goats and even breeds.

Do you sell wormers for sheep or goats?
No. Wormers and veterinary medicines go through your vet. We do supply the dosing and care equipment.

Where can I find supplies for calves?
Calf rearing, calving and other cattle products are in cattle.
