History

The Appenzeller Sennenhund is one of four Swiss Sennenhund breeds and originates from the Alpine region of Switzerland. The breed was traditionally used as a herding dog, guard dog, and for pulling carts. Their versatility and adaptability made them indispensable on farms. Today, they are valued both as working dogs and as loyal companion dogs.

Character and Temperament

The Appenzeller Sennenhund is energetic, intelligent, and confident. They are known for their vigilance and loyalty to their family. This breed is social and playful, but can be reserved around strangers. Due to their independent nature, they require an experienced owner who can guide them in a positive and consistent manner.
