  • Calf Coat Kalverdek (Private Label)

Hofman Animal Care Calf Coat Calf Jacket (Private Label)

    Out of stock

Calf Coat For use at temperatures below 10°C. The Calf Coat (calf jacket) protects your calf against temperature fluctuations and thereby supports the immune system. Please note: this product can be supplied with your own logo and is only available to order. Did you know? At a temperature of 5°C or lower, the energy from the milk feed is used to maintain the calf's body temperature. This means there is not enough energy left for growth, nor for supporting the immune system, making the calf more vulnerable to problems such as diarrhoea, stress, colds or stunted growth. By using a calf jacket, the calf is protected against temperature fluctuations, so it can use the energy for growth and maintaining the immune system. In this way, the Calf Coat pays for itself. Application Apply when the temperature is below 10°C. Use From birth to 3-4 weeks, longer if necessary. Important The Calf Coat calf jacket is made of tear-resistant 600 Denier Polyester-Ribstop material with nylon strap + plastic fasteners and is, of course, waterproof. The Calf Coat calf jacket is also made of breathable material with a transmission rate of 3000g/m2/24h. Washable at 30°C.

  • Excellent D-Bolus (Bicarbonaat)

    Excellent Excellent D-Bolus (Bicarbonate)

    Out of stock

D-Bolus.Bicarbonate pill for calves, sheep and goats to buffer acidity and stimulate the urge to drink. The bolus that gets the calf drinking again quickly. The D-Bolus is also sometimes called the drinking or thirst bolus! The D-Bolus is a bicarbonate pill used as a complementary feed for calves. It has been specially developed as a dietetic feed to stabilise the water and electrolyte balance in the calf's body and to support physiological digestion. This is important because a good balance of these substances is essential for the calf's health. One of the main advantages of the D-Bolus is that it can increase the urge to drink in calves with diarrhoea. When calves suffer from diarrhoea, they lose not only fluid but also buffers, which lowers the acidity level. A side effect of this is that their urge to drink also decreases. This can cause the calf to become increasingly weak and even put it at risk of dying. With bicarbonate, the D-Bolus provides an important buffer. The D-Bolus is therefore perfect for increasing the urge to drink. The D-Bolus contains 10% more bicarbonate than comparable pills and comes in a special fast-dissolving gelatine capsule, so it can be absorbed faster and takes effect more quickly. This makes it a more effective solution than comparable products. The D-Bolus is easy to administer with a bolus gun.The bolus is also ideal for buffering acidity in sheep and goats. It can be used as a dietetic feed to reduce the risk of acidosis (rumen acidosis) and can also be used here to stimulate the urge to drink. Feeding advice: Calves: Stimulating the urge to drink in case of diarrhoea: At the first signs of digestive disorders, give 1 D-Bolus per calf, followed by 1 D-Bolus with every feed for 1-2 days.Reducing acidosis after birth: Administer 1 D-Bolus immediately after birth.Sheep and goats:Stimulating the urge to drink: 1 D-Bolus twice a day for 1-2 days.Reducing the risk of rumen acidosis: Administer 2 D-Boluses at the same time and repeat after 12 hours.Administration: Orally with the bolus gun PILL0002 (not included).

A cow calls for different tools throughout the year: calf teats and calving ropes in spring, attention to flies and hooves during the grazing season, extra care for the udder around drying off. This main section brings together everything you need to look after cattle, from the smallholder with two grazing cows to the dairy or beef farm with a full barn. For each topic, you can read below what you will find and which page to open next.

Nine topics, from birth to grown cow

  • Calf rearing: colostrum, feeding buckets and teats, milk warmers, calf jackets and disbudding tools.
  • Calving: calving ropes, calf pullers, lubricant, shoulder-length gloves and calving drinks.
  • Udder care: udder ointment and mint gel, teat dip and dip cups, rapid mastitis test, milking gloves and teat cannulas.
  • Hoof care: hoof knives, hoof blocks with glue, bandage, footbaths and footbath products.
  • Boluses and minerals: transition boluses, long-acting mineral boluses, mineral licks and bolus guns.
  • Drenching: cow drenchers with hand or battery pump, drench guns and drench powders.
  • Injection and syringes: disposable syringes, automatic syringes and needles in many sizes.
  • Fly control: predatory flies and parasitic wasps for biological control in the barn.
  • Cattle brushes and barn supplies: cattle brushes, halters, cow ropes, marking spray, ear tag applicators and disinfection mats.

What a small keeper needs and what a farm adds

The number of animals mainly determines the size of your equipment. With a handful of cattle, a single calf bottle, a hand pump for drenching and a few disposable syringes are often enough. If you calve several cows per season, a calf puller, a stock of calving drink and a cow drencher with battery-powered pump pay off. A second question is whether you milk: with beef cattle or suckler cows, udder care plays a smaller role, while there are special mineral boluses for beef cattle. If you keep the animals mostly indoors, hoof care and barn hygiene deserve more attention than when they spend most of the year at pasture.

A handy starter kit for a new keeper consists of a halter and cow rope, a calf feeding bucket with spare teats, a hoof knife, a mineral lick and a box of nitrile gloves. From there, you expand to what your farm or hobby demands.

Brands you will come across

A large part of the cattle range comes from Excellent, with products from udder ointment to hoof bath. You will also find Demotec and Technovit for hoof blocks, Vink for calving ropes and cattle brushes, Shoof for calf feeders, Génia and Henke-Sass Wolf for syringes and needles, Rumivet and Direct Bolus for boluses and Resoluut for natural fly control.

Limits of this range

Veterinary medicines are not here: we do not sell wormers or other products only available through the vet or with an authorisation. The boluses, drench powders and calving drinks in this group are complementary feeds, not medicines. If you have doubts about an animal's health, call your vet first and use the equipment here to carry out their advice. If you keep other livestock alongside cattle, see the other farm animals.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum I need if I am going to keep two cows?
Think of a halter with cow rope, a mineral lick, a hoof knife or an appointment with a foot trimmer, gloves and, for calves, a feeding bucket or bottle with teat. Discuss vaccinations and worming with your vet.

Do you sell wormers for cattle?
No. Wormers for livestock are veterinary medicines supplied through the vet or an authorised outlet. You will find the equipment here, such as syringes and drench guns.

Is this range also suitable for beef cattle and suckler cows?
Yes. Calf rearing, hoof care, boluses and barn supplies apply to all cattle. There are separate mineral boluses for beef cattle; udder care is mainly intended for dairy cows.
