Cattle rumen magnet The rumen magnet for cattle is used against hardware disease in cows. Swallowed sharp objects and materials end up at the bottom of the reticulum and can cause inflammation in the stomach. By giving every heifer a rumen magnet, the sharp materials attach to the magnet and (further) damage is prevented. Description: New research on 1491 cows shows that almost 10% of the cows (= 143 cows) had lesions in the reticulum or rumen. The research has proven that traumatic reticulum lesions occur less often in cows fitted with a rumen magnet.Administer with: Inserter RVS 40 mm INSE020, Inserter KS INSE015 and Inserter KS INSE001.Contents: 12 pieces Stomach MAAG0002 Magnet Magnets

    Larvenol Larvenol 4GR 5 kg

    Out of stock

Larvicide based on the active substance S-methoprene for controlling the larvae of the house fly, stable fly and drone fly (rat-tailed maggots) in manure. May be applied indoors on manure in enclosed pig, cattle and poultry houses as well as in pens and other livestock buildings. Outdoors, the product may be applied on manure in a watertight and insulated slurry pit. Larvenol 4GR is easy to apply by scattering. Larvenol 4GR acts on the 3rd larval stage. The advantage is that good results are still achieved even with late treatment. Treat every new layer of manure again with Larvenol 4GR. Benefits Easy to apply Long residual effect of up to 12 weeks May be used in the presence of animals Low toxicity Relatively new active substance in livestock farming Acts on the 3rd larval stage For controlling: House fly (larvae) Stable fly (larvae) Rat-tailed maggots (drone fly) Areas of application Indoors in enclosed pig, cattle and poultry houses. Outdoors in a watertight and insulated slurry pit. Dosage 30 grams per m2 Pig houses, cattle houses: Slatted floor: Use on the 3rd day after introducing new animals. Treat the entire floor of the manure pit. The treatment must be repeated after each removal of manure. Bedding: Use on each new layer of bedding and repeat the treatment each time the layer has risen by 8-10 cm. Poultry farms: Cage: Treat the accumulated manure (each 10 cm thick layer) under the cages. Bedding: Use on each new layer of bedding and repeat the treatment each time the layer has risen by 10 cm. With very dry substrate (e.g. litter for chickens) the product may act more slowly. Adding 100-200 ml water/m2 to the substrate increases the larvicidal effect under very dry conditions. Use on manure in goat and sheep housing is not permitted. Manure stored outdoors: This may only be treated if the manure is in a watertight, insulated manure pit that also meets the other requirements for safe manure storage. When treating manure stored outdoors, use a product dosage of 30 g/m2. Packaging LARV005 – 5 kg (trained professional and non-professional users) LARV020 – 20 kg (trained professional users) Authorisation Authorisation number: NL-0022255-0000 Active substance S-methoprene 0.421% Use Larvenol 4GR safely. A cow calls for different tools throughout the year: calf teats and calving ropes in spring, attention to flies and hooves during the grazing season, extra care for the udder around drying off. This main section brings together everything you need to look after cattle, from the smallholder with two grazing cows to the dairy or beef farm with a full barn. For each topic, you can read below what you will find and which page to open next.

Nine topics, from birth to grown cow

  • Calf rearing: colostrum, feeding buckets and teats, milk warmers, calf jackets and disbudding tools.
  • Calving: calving ropes, calf pullers, lubricant, shoulder-length gloves and calving drinks.
  • Udder care: udder ointment and mint gel, teat dip and dip cups, rapid mastitis test, milking gloves and teat cannulas.
  • Hoof care: hoof knives, hoof blocks with glue, bandage, footbaths and footbath products.
  • Boluses and minerals: transition boluses, long-acting mineral boluses, mineral licks and bolus guns.
  • Drenching: cow drenchers with hand or battery pump, drench guns and drench powders.
  • Injection and syringes: disposable syringes, automatic syringes and needles in many sizes.
  • Fly control: predatory flies and parasitic wasps for biological control in the barn.
  • Cattle brushes and barn supplies: cattle brushes, halters, cow ropes, marking spray, ear tag applicators and disinfection mats.

What a small keeper needs and what a farm adds

The number of animals mainly determines the size of your equipment. With a handful of cattle, a single calf bottle, a hand pump for drenching and a few disposable syringes are often enough. If you calve several cows per season, a calf puller, a stock of calving drink and a cow drencher with battery-powered pump pay off. A second question is whether you milk: with beef cattle or suckler cows, udder care plays a smaller role, while there are special mineral boluses for beef cattle. If you keep the animals mostly indoors, hoof care and barn hygiene deserve more attention than when they spend most of the year at pasture.

A handy starter kit for a new keeper consists of a halter and cow rope, a calf feeding bucket with spare teats, a hoof knife, a mineral lick and a box of nitrile gloves. From there, you expand to what your farm or hobby demands.

Brands you will come across

A large part of the cattle range comes from Excellent, with products from udder ointment to hoof bath. You will also find Demotec and Technovit for hoof blocks, Vink for calving ropes and cattle brushes, Shoof for calf feeders, Génia and Henke-Sass Wolf for syringes and needles, Rumivet and Direct Bolus for boluses and Resoluut for natural fly control.

Limits of this range

Veterinary medicines are not here: we do not sell wormers or other products only available through the vet or with an authorisation. The boluses, drench powders and calving drinks in this group are complementary feeds, not medicines. If you have doubts about an animal's health, call your vet first and use the equipment here to carry out their advice. If you keep other livestock alongside cattle, see the other farm animals.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum I need if I am going to keep two cows?
Think of a halter with cow rope, a mineral lick, a hoof knife or an appointment with a foot trimmer, gloves and, for calves, a feeding bucket or bottle with teat. Discuss vaccinations and worming with your vet.

Do you sell wormers for cattle?
No. Wormers for livestock are veterinary medicines supplied through the vet or an authorised outlet. You will find the equipment here, such as syringes and drench guns.

Is this range also suitable for beef cattle and suckler cows?
Yes. Calf rearing, hoof care, boluses and barn supplies apply to all cattle. There are separate mineral boluses for beef cattle; udder care is mainly intended for dairy cows.
